Art Rotterdam 2024
31.01-04.02.2024
During its fourth participation to Art Rotterdam, Archiraar Gallery will present a project with two minimalists artists. An encounter between abstract drawing and concrete sculpture.
Simon Deppierraz’s work derives from his interest in the balance of natural forces and the structural systems. He develops artworks that range from drawing to sculptural works and large scale installations, each one describing a carefully conceived system distinguished by the tension between static harmony and energetic force.
Abstraction also starts with the real in the practice of Mélanie Berger. It is not disconnected from the way you look at things. There is always a certain quality of light, or a vibration that surround you and that may no longer be visible, but which do find their way into the construction. The drawings make layers glow like skin, that reveals wrinkles and scars.
Both play with optical effects and confusion of perception but also with the duality between raw and precious materiality.
