Dust to shake

The history and architecture of the km temporaer exhibition space provides the foundation for the intervention by Simon Deppieraz. As a physically tangible installation, Deppierraz creates an artificial snowstorm in the windowless room and transposes thereby a landscape into the exhibition premises. The physical presence of the place is created through the possibility of intervention by the viewer and the dynamic action augmented. This concept is described by the sociologist, Michel de Certeau, in which through the sheer existence of a place, a space is created. The site-specificity volatilizes when the viewer enters the room, and in actively participating in the work, a dispersal results that leads to the resolution of localization.
